FSMB Physician Data Center is queried every 24h. ECFMG status is queried on credential creation and re-queried only when status changes (per ECFMG's notification API).

Source-down handling

When the authority is unreachable

If ECFMG is unreachable, the prior verification stands; if FSMB is unreachable, individual state-board reads continue independently.
